A Letter to Momo movie review animated by Production IG and published by Gkids

The goal of my blog is to share the joy and love I have for unknown comics, unknown animation and underground artists.

Today we are looking at an animated movie called "A Letter to Momo" created by Production I.G. and published in the United States by Gkids.

The dvd that we are looking at is an award winning movie and has been through numerous international film festivals. It was animated and created by Production I.G. (same company that animated Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone complex and various other action based shows that Cartoon Network likes to import). It was brought into the U.S.A. by Gkids and I have to admit, this was  fantastic movie! I am a pretty big fan of Production I.G. and this one took the prize for my overall favorite movie from them. But, lets go into some fun detail regarding it without ruining anything for you.

This movie is about a family who movies to a country island type town. It follows Momo and how she learns to adapt to a new world with her mother. The concept of the story is that Momo suddenly starts to see these three spirits and how these crazy critters change her life in many ways. Now, if you think this is just a light hearted movie, get ready for a thrill! This movie has a plot so thick that you can bounce a ball off of it. It is beautifully crafted and makes you want for more! The voice acting in Japanese is amazing and the musically score lulls you with pure emotion. The English voice acting is good as well but nothing beats the original cast of any movie.

Now the art work is very similar to the 2000s animation craze but it gives off a Studio Ghibli vibe. It is very fluid and nothing seems out of place. The animation is used so well and blended so nicely that you will have to sit there and actually try and find errors. It is extremely top notch and I wouldn't expect anything less of Production I.G. After watching this movie, I am convinced that they have mastered the art of animated fruits and vegetables.

The story is very compelling and it will suck you in right away. It builds up nicely and has some dynamic twists that you would appreciate. This movie is fun for the whole family and it has a great re-watch value. This is one of those few movies that I would actually recommend buying instead of renting. I would put this movie on par with Studio Ghibli movies like Spirited Away and Arrietty with the depth of the tale.

Score time:

Art: 9/ 10
Story: 9 / 10
Flow of movie: 9 / 10
Impression after reading: amazed
