Dance til Tomorrow volume 1 by Naoki Yamamoto and published by Pulp Comics / Viz Media

The goal of my blog is to share the joy and love I have for unknown comics and underground artists.

Today we are looking at "Dance til Tomorrow" by Naoki Yamamoto and published in the United States by Pulp Comics / Viz Comics.

The volume I bought is the first volume in an ongoing series. It is a feisty comic that has some extremely adult situations and will draw you in faster than a tornado in Kansas. It is an adult comedy series about a guy who is black mailed constantly by a young lady because she over heard how much money he is inheriting if he follows his late grandfather's wishes and no one is supposed to know.

Dance til Tomorrow is about Suekichi and his constant balance between his acting hobby and his real life. It goes into how stressful life can be when all you want to do is do what you love and things and people keep hindering that. It is not an action comic but is grounded in realism and is about how cruel and hilarious life can be.

The art of this story is very detailed but it is a late 80s / early 90s comic series so that can be expected. Yamamoto-san has a hilarious sense of humor but he loves to drag sex into a lot of things so expect random sex scenes every so often. The odd thing is that this is not a hentai or sex comic so in a sense, it just doesn't skip the scenes that are hinted at in most books so I feel quite happy to see someone take that step in life. The scenes tend to last 1-3 pages tops. Now one hilarious theme that you will see constantly is Suekichi's fight with baldness. As a bald man, I can only relate with pity. Well played comedy comic. Well played.

This is an finished series and it was a great read. There are seven comics total and Pulp comics / Viz were able to get every comic published. Yay for a complete series! If you love realism in your comics and need a good comic for comedy purposes, then this is a great find for you. I would advise to be careful in public but it is a great read besides that. Enjoy the joy of Yakuza, theater, and sexy blackmail!

Score time:
